Crocus
A knitting pattern for a very realistic crocus that is around 12 cm (4.7”) tall. Decorate your home with these delicate flowers and harbingers of spring.
You can see more of my flower pictures on my instagram
Included in the pattern
- pdf with altogether 11 pages
- very detailed step-by-step written instructions
- tons of pictures and helpful tips included.
- Video tutorials for all knitting techniques are available (on my blog)
Difficulty:
Intermediate+
This crocus is mostly knit flat on 2.00mm double-pointed needles using a very simple form of double knitting and only a very small part is knit in the round. Puzzling the different parts together will be a lovely challenge for intermediate knitters.
Wire and some creative blocking are used to get them in shape. There are a few tails to weave in but very little actual seaming.
Yarn and yardage:
While you can more or less ignore my gauge, I really recommend picking a good lace yarn (scraps are enough). Knitting these croci with bigger needles and a heavier yarn will result in a much bigger (and larger than life) flower.
Skills required:
knit, purl, SSK, k2tog, K3tog, i-cord, and the KLL & KRL increases( though M1L & M1R works passably as well)
Step-by-step video tutorials are available for all techniques.
Additional materials:
-
thin copper or jewelry wire (to support the leaves),
-
a thicker wire for the stalk (or you twist 2/3 lengths of thin wire into one sturdier support)
