A hat for keeping you warm while you watch the sheep.
Or gather with members of your raiding party. Or, whatever.

MATERIALS

  • 1 skein Croft Shetland Tweed (100 gram worsted weight ; sample in #757 Mossbank)
  • 1 skein Llama Una (50 gram dk/light worsted llama; sample in #07 Dark Green)
  • US 6 & 7 needles in 16” and 32” (for magic loop) or dpns

This hat begins with the llama lining to keep your ears nice and warm. The earflaps are knit top down and then transition to the Croft yarn and knit bottom up for the outer side of the
earflaps and hat.

Pattern could be made with other worsted yarn with a dk/light worsted yarn for lining. The combination of the crunchy Shetland wool on the outside and the uber soft llama yarn on the inside is VERY pleasing. So I’d recommend a more rustic wooly, warm, and repellant wool for the outside and a squishy soft yarn in alpaca, llama, cashmere, yak, etc. for the inside.

Note: I had enough leftovers to make a second hat that was just a basic striped hat with alpaca for ribbed brim that then stripes with the wool yarn up top.
