Crofter's Hap

This digital pattern is no longer available online.
A Crofter is one who has tenure and use of a piece of land, typically as a farmer. It derives from the old-Dutch word “Crocht” meaning a field in a sand dune. In Frisia and the Netherlands were (and still are) crofters, just like in Scotland. “Hap” is a Scottish word meaning simple shawl or wrap.
The Crofter’s Hap is a very simple pattern, knitted in garter stitch. A handspun yarn was used to get a rugged, warm texture, using a 2ply (iceblue Dutch wool plied with brown Scottish wool)
Size is optional: knit as long as you prefer your hap to be wide and high.
