This top is a fun and quick-to-make favorite piece for your summer wardrobe. The colorful crocheted yoke can be an eye-catching stash buster project, while the knitted main part can be worked in a neutral color to balance out the yoke and turn this garment into a modern casual top.
You begin by crocheting the yoke in woven stitch pattern using thicker yarn or DK held double. Then you pick up stitches with the main yarn (DK) along one of the four edges and work the left front piece using short rows while increasing for the armhole. You proceed the same way for the right front piece, join both and put stitches on hold. The back is worked just like that, but you add some more length (including the increases for the armhole shaping) before you cast on stitches for the underarm and join to work in the round. The body is knitted top-down in stockinette stitch in the round, with the option of incorporating increases for gentle waist shaping, and finished with an eyelet round and crochet edging.

EASE
Sizing is a guide only and you should pick the finished measurements which are close to your measured bust circumference. It’s recommended to pick a size within the range of minus 5 cm (2 inches) to plus 5 cm (2 inches) of ease.
Sample 1 (kitt/leight beige) (size 2) (82.5 cm (32.5 inches)) is shown on a 85 cm bust circumference (2.5 cm (1 inch) of negative ease).
Sample 2 (blue) (size 1) (79 cm (31 inches)) is shown on a 85 cm bust circumference (6 cm (2.5 inches) of negative ease).
ATTENTION: If you pick a size with too much positive ease, the armholes might become too large. If you want to have fitted armholes (a covered bra), choose a size with the recommended negative to no ease.
NEEDLES/HOOKS
Circular needle to obtain gauge, recommended: 3.5 mm (US 5) with a length of at least 80 cm (32 inches) or more for larger sizes.
Smaller circular needle for armhole edging, recommended: 2.5–3.0 mm (US 2–3).
Crochet hook 4.5–5.0 mm (neck) and 3.5–4.00 mm (hem).
GAUGE
21 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) in stockinette stitch, blocked.
Crochet: 8 clusters (1 cluster = (1 sc + 1 ch st)) x 16 rds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches), yarn held double or bulky weight yarn.
