The Cross Body Felted Felted Bag is a felted envelope bag that is embellished with needle felting. The bag was knitted with a single strand of worsted yarn which finished, post felting, to 9”x12”. The bag is made from a 24” knitted panel, which is folded in half. Side edges are joined with an adapted 3 needle bind off. Stitches are picked up in a contrasting color for the flap. Grommets are inserted into the top corners of the bag with an I-Cord passed through the grommets for a strap. Finally, a needle felted design of the knitters choice is composed on the front of the bag and/or flap. A magnetic closure is a fixed to the underneath point of the flap and the body of the bag.

Gauge is important, but is governed as much by felting variabilities as as by yarn and needle size. 2 skeins of yarn were used for the body and I-Cord, with only 20 yards used out of the 2nd skein. 1 Skein of the contrasting color was used, with about 1/4 of the skein used. Yarn must be derived from animal fiber and cannot be Superwash.

Yarn scraps were used for needle felting.
