This toasty neckwarmer will keep you cozy on the coldest days. The pattern is a simple but effective combination of moss stitch and cables. The resulting knit fabric is close-fitting but not constricting around the neck. The button closure allows for easy wear and provides a classic finishing touch. This is a terrific project for a quick gift or a single skein of special yarn.

The pattern sample was worked in a handspun yarn that worked to a gauge of 4.5 stitches to 1 inch in moss stitch on 5.5 mm needles. Any yarn that works to a similar gauge would be suitable for this design.

This pattern is named after an island 6 miles off the shore of Nova Scotia. My grandfather grew up there and I have many happy memories of time spent on the island as a child.
