Happy Valentines day you gorgeous gorgeous people. I can’t make the boxes of chocolate go on sale any sooner, but while you’re waiting, why not cast on a little something for you? The Cross Your Heart mitts are $0.99 until the end of the day (2/14/23, 11:59p EDT) so treat yourself!

I don’t usually get into Valentine’s Day. As far as I’m concerned, the real hero of February is ½ price boxes of chocolates on the 15th. Even so, this year I was feeling festive so I leaned in with cabled hearts. What I love most about these mitts is that you get to choose if you want to wear the hearts on your sleeve or crush them in the palm of your hand! These mitts have a lot of give and one size fits most. The project photos here show the same pair on a large handed man and a small handed woman.

Yarn
One ball (100g) fingering weight yarn. Sample is worked in Lattes & Llamas Interlude Yarn (100 grams/ 438 yards) in ‘Red Shirt’. This project uses approximately 150 yards of wool when working to gauge, and is a great way to use up some stash leftover from another project.

Needles
US1 / 2.25 mm circular needles long enough to work in magic loop plus 1 same size DPN (recommended); or 5 DPNs (4 to work your project and 1 for cabling). This project is well suited to work the mitts 2 at a time. Adjust needle size as needed to meet gauge.

Notions
Stitch Markers; Cable holder if opting not to use a DPN as a cable holder; Waste yarn to hold sts.

Gauge
30 stitches and 48 rounds = 4” in stockinette. Take gauge on a blocked swatch that was worked in the round.
