Since I made this Crossbody Rainbow Purse using double strands of yarn, I used 2 cakes of yarn so that I could pull the colours in the sequence of the rainbow as follows: Indigo /Blue / Green / Yellow / Orange / Red (Rose). Selecting the rainbow colour combination could bring awareness to the rights of the lgbtq2s+ community. For this reason, I include this pattern in my Meaningful Makes designs. It is just as beautiful in a variety of other color combos as you can see by my testers’ versions. If you were making this in one colour or using the colours as they flowed one cake would be sufficient.

This project is made using half double crochet and makes up quickly. Instructions are included for lining the purse, but this is optional. Adding a lining will require some basic sewing skills. Instructions are also given to add a zipper, but this is optional as well as the front flap detail contains things inside.

You can leave the purse plain or dress it up with a variety of embellishments. A few suggestions with instructions have been included. You are encouraged to use your own creativity to suit your personal style.

Crossbody purses are convenient for our active lifestyles. No heavy bag to weigh down your shoulder and they allow your hands to be free. The added hardware detail used on the strap does allow you to shorten the purse and wear it as a shoulder bag should you choose.

The Crossbody Rainbow Purse is a compact, sleek, fashionable accessory to add to any wardrobe.

If you add a zipper or line your purse, basic sewing skills are required. Zipper and lining are optional.
