Crossings - Child Size
The Crossings Sweater is constructed Top Down and Seamless in the Round. Although it begins by working only the back, stitches for the front are then picked up from the cast on row from the back and when the bottom of the armhole is reached the sweater is knit in the round from that point. Sleeves are set in using short rows then knit in the round so they are also seamless.
Techniques required to complete this sweater are: basic knit and purl stitches, casting on and binding off, knitting in the round, increases and decreases, short rows, and simple cabling. The recommended bind off for this pattern is Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, which is well described in a Knitty article online: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall09/FEATjssbo.php, however, other bind off methods can be substituted if desired.
Size 6 needles in 40” or longer circular is recommended.
