1899 written pattern for a “crossover” ie a wrap shawl, in crochet.

Pattern recommends ¼ lbs of black wool and 1 oz of violet. The body is worked in a granny square type mesh in the black, and then edged with violet. It is finished with a chained tie and a tassel.

The finished shape is a long uppercase “U” where the top edges slope inwards. When the two fronts are wrapped around the chest, the sloping edges turn to go straight across the body.
