The Crosswinds Shawl is a long, light and airy shawl using 3 colors, 2 neutrals and a color to pop. Do not be afraid to use unexpected neutrals, there are no wrong combinations!

Crosswinds is the result of driving home along I-80 from California. The weather was not our friend in late February 2017. But once we hit Wyoming, the winds picked up and the van leaned! Driving along the mountains we were hit with strong winds from the right that started coming from the left as we rounded the mountain.
As you knit the shawl you’ll see a ribbed section grow to the left, imagine you’re driving along as the wind pushes from the right. A stripe of garter caps the first section as you’re rounding the mountain and start getting pushed from the left. You’ll see the ribbed section begins to grow once again. As you complete your journey to the safety of the foothills and prairie you’ll see color and imagination unfold, the time when this design was a complete idea on my notebook.
The drive was a little scary but this shawl is sure to keep your interest and be a long time favorite!

I’ve designed Crosswinds using 3 fantastic colors of Snowball for a lightweight shawl with impact. You will have options for color play and you will have interest in the texture this shawl creates. My mother cared for young adults with disabilities as I was a teen. I felt this shawl need textural interest as those with little or no vision have something they can feel, to see in their mind. I’m certain you’ll enjoy making Crosswinds many times over!

The yarn can easily be substituted for Uptown, Diamond or Tweedy Toes each will give you a delightful accessory and range from high end luxury to the budget friendly knit.
