This shawl was inspired by AnneM’s beautiful Revontuli -huivi/Northern Lights. I love how three dimensional the structure of the stitches makes it look, as if it would fold up like a fan if you pushed on the sides. Since I also love to crochet, I tried to recreate that look in crochet stitches. I owe a debt to a ripple afghan that used to rest on the back of my grandma’s couch. While I have no idea what became of it, its memory provided me with the general pattern principle for this shawl.
