Crowley the Snake
-
This is a pattern for how to crochet a snake and is beginner-friendly. You only need to know the basics such as mr, sc, inc, inv dec, and sl st. The pattern is for a basic snake design so feel free to experiment with different colours and yarn types using this.
-
This pattern does not require any specific yarn brand/weight, hook size, or safety eye sizes.
-
This pattern does provide recommendations for yarn types and provides images that can give you an idea as to how different yarn types and weights affect the finished product size.
-
If you want your snake to be soft and very flimsy/flexible I recommend a velvet or chenille polyester yarn. Using an acrylic yarn WILL create a stiffer snake. Worsted or Bulky/Chunky weight acrylic blend or wool blend yarns will be less stiff but not as flimsy as polyester yarns.
-
On average, a 100g skein of DK or Worsted weight can make a snake up to 1 metre long or more depending on yarn type. A chunky skein about 300yrds can make a snake almost 2.5 metres long.
