OVERVIEW: Crowned with Kindness is a beginner-friendly and fun project. The adorable “smiley face” beads, added without pre-stringing, are sure to brighten anyone’s day. The hat is customizable and can be made in a couple of hours using Bulky (Chunky #5) weight yarn. You can also make this hat in DK or Worsted weight yarn.

SAMPLE HAT SIZES FIT THE FOLLOWING HEAD CIRCUMFERENCES:

  • Small (Youth/Teen/Adults with smaller heads): 20-21in | 50.80-53.30cm.
  • Adult Medium: 21 - 22in | 53.30 - 55.90cm.
  • Adult Large: 22 - 23in | 55.90 – 58.40cm.
  • Adult Extra Large: 23 - 24in | 58.40 – 61cm.

You can customize the hat to fit additional head sizes and adjust the hat height as desired. See the Hat Sizing Table and Customization sections in the pattern.

GAUGE – 4in | 10.16cm Hat Crown Swatch Equals:

  • DK (#3, Light), worked with a 4.5mm | US-7 hook, 11 rnds, 66 sts.
  • Worsted (#4, Medium), worked with a 5.5mm | US I-9 hook, 9 rnds, 54 sts.
  • Bulky (#5, Chunky), worked with an 8mm | US L, 6 rnds, 36 sts.

BEADS

  • DK and Light Worsted weight yarns: 7mm (dia) x 4mm (thick) beads with 1.5mm (dia) horizontal holes.
  • Worsted and Bulky weight yarns: 10mm (dia) x 6mm (thick) beads with 2mm (dia) horizontal holes.
