Cruachte is a triangular, geometric lace shawl featuring a motif developed from the traditional Shetland lace motif called Broken Acre, worked on a stocking stitch ground with garter stitch borders.

The name is Gaelic - an adjective meaning stacked or piled up. I used this motif for my Stack scarf, also available on Ravelry.

One skein of Suilven laceweight (800m) and 4mm needles (I used circulars) are all you need.

It’s a large, lightweight shawl, with a wingspan of approx 184cm / 72” and a depth to the point of approx 94cm / 38” - ideal to wear as a shawl around your shoulders, or wound around your neck with the point to the front.

It’s fairly simple to knit too, with a regular rhythm to the pattern.

This purple colourway is called Blueberries. Take a look at www.ripplescrafts.com for the other lovely options.

I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing this shawl. Perhaps someone you know would like a co-ordinating Stack scarf?
