Crumble the Cat Loaf
Half kitten, half bread, this cuddly, customizable Cat Loaf is a fun project for beginners to practice working with single crochet stitches and a handful of sc decreases (sc2tog). All parts are made in rows and stitched together.
Skills used: chain, single crochet, sc2tog, slip stitch, working in the back loops only, and simple sewing.
Gauge: Specific gauge isn’t important to this project, but stitches should be tight enough that the stuffing doesn’t come out. If you crochet very loosely, go down a hook size or two.
Yarn & Hook: This pattern is written for medium (#4) weight yarn & an F (3.75mm) hook. Follow the same pattern with a large hook and super bulky yarn for a jumbo Cat Loaf, or a tiny hook and sock yarn for a tiny Cat Loaf.
Size: Cat Loaf measures 5 ½ inches (14cm) from top of ears to bottom of feet and 9 ½ inches (24cm) from front feet to tip of tail. The cube-shaped body is 4 ½ inches (11cm) per side, if firmly stuffed.
