About the pattern
Cry of the Direwolf is a unique sock pattern written with your choice of two different construction methods.

Choose from:
Option 1- Top-down, dpn
Option 2 - Toe-up, two-at-a-time, magic-loop

I have provided a link to my favorite two-at-a-time, toe-up, magic-loop tutorial, in the pattern.

Techniques used

  • knit
  • purl
  • slipped sts
  • short rows (for heel turning)
  • cables (can be worked with or without cable needle, pattern explains both)
  • yarn over

Yarn requirements
350-450 yds of a sock or fingering weight yarn.
This pattern looks nice with a solid or variegated yarn. I do not recommend self-striping as it will distract from all of your beautiful cables and lace.

Needles

Option 1 -

  • 5 dpns US 0/2.00mm (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • darning needle
  • cable needle (optional)

Option 2 -

  • 32” or 40” US 0/2.00mm circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • darning needle
  • cable needle (optional)

Sizes

Small/Medium - Women’s US size 5-7 (CO 56 sts)
Large/Extra-large - Women’s US size 8-10 (CO 64 sts)
