Do you want to make a sweater dress or a sweater that fits you perfectly? That both is comfortable to wear and stylish?

Then this pattern is for you!

I had quite a few requirements when making a sweater dress pattern. It had to:

• be easy to follow with a lot of pictures
• be comfortable to wear and have a nice fit.
• have solid stitches and a high collar, so it would be perfect for cold weather.
• use stitches that are quite fast to make.
• have slim sleeves with little texture, so it would be comfortable to wear underneath a coat.
• I also wanted a seamless construction that is worked top-down.

And the result is this pattern, the Crystal Sweater Dress.

Pattern type: Made to measure
Crochet level: Advanced intermediate

The pattern is written in a “measure yourself” style, which means it does not contain any specific stitch counts, gauges, yardages, or sizes. Instead, you will measure yourself or the one you make it for to get the right fit.

Since it is a made-to-measure pattern, you can choose the yarn you want to work with. Both the yarn weight and whether you want to work with one strand or more strands held together. However, if you want to make this sweater/dress for a child it is best to use sport or fingering weight yarn. DK weight works well for adults, but you can also use thinner or thicker yarn if you want.

How much yarn you will need depends on the chosen yarn, the size you make it, if you want to make a sweater or sweater dress, and how long you want it to be.

The pattern does also contain a lookbook with the beautiful versions made by the testers. There you will also find which yarn they used and how much.

To make the Crystal Sweater Dress you will need:

• Yarn of your choice
• A crochet hook that fits the chosen yarn
• Stitch markers
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

What I used to make the samples (size xs):

The sweater sample:
Yarn: One strand Drops baby merino held together with one strand kid silk by Merinor
Hook size: 4 mm
Amount: Approx. 1150 meters / 1260 yards of each strand

The sweater dress sample:
Yarn: Drops Karisma
Hook size: 4 mm
Amount: Approx. 2130 meters / 2330 yards
