CSM Knitted Knockers
Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prostheses for women who have had breast cancer and undergone mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming. Volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them.
Please note, this pattern is not an officially approved pat tern so will not be accepted for distribution by Knitted Knockers Support Foundation, (knittedknockers.org). However, this pattern closely matches the hand knit version and could be used for anyone you want to make them personally for.
Any cylinder will work. You will be using anywhere between 30-40 slots of the cylinder depending on the cup size. You can leave all of the needles in the machine and raise the ones that will not be used or work using a flat panel with the excess needles taken out. The photos shown were made with all the needles in the cylinder except for the one that is taken out to make “purl” ridge. Each row has a number in parenthesis that indicates how many slots are working (including the purl ridge)
