This pattern takes approximately 1300 yards of DK yarn.
The original in Ice Baby Batik (359m/100g) used 270g.
Subsequent blankets in a thicker DK have taken nearer 400g.

Also, this pattern has been written as a repeating pattern. If you wish to make your own border there are plenty of patterns available on ravelry. Or alternatively cast on an extra 8 sts and work 4 extra sts at beg and end of each row in garter st (ever row knit) as well as a few extra rows of garter st at the beg and end of blanket. This will stop the edges curling inwards.
