This includes a tall version and a short version. The tall version means the side that wraps around will be shorter than the hanging edge. The short version will make the tied corners longer, but the stockinette appearance appears horizontal when worn.

A simple stockinette triangle kerchief for chilly spring days. When it’s too warm for a whole scarf but too cold to keep your neck exposed.

Needles: US 3 or 3.25mm
Yarn: Road to China Light - Beryl 1 skein or 150 yards
Fibre: 65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, 10% cashmere
Hours: Roughly 10 hours

Some notes to help you with the short version:

  • At the longest side the sample is in total 32 inches long.
  • From base to tip it is 10 inches.
  • I made sure to block the kerchief to achieve the size and shape I desired.
  • I started decreasing at around row 114, when I achieved 16 inches of length.

Just note, only with this yarn and my tension will it be 32 inches long if I knit a total of 228 rows. The length from base to tip will be vastly different with a different yarn weight. You should take into account your own yarn and tension.

Consider knitting a tension square first to learn how many rows you need to reach the kerchief length you desire with the yarn you’d like to use.
