Cuddly Cats Socks is a cute colourwork pattern, ideal for cat lovers!

The socks are knitted toe-up with two contrasting fingering weight sock yarns. A variation of the ladder-back jacquard technique is used to manage floats and keep the colourwork even, while adding stretch and warmth.

They’re double thick so they’re super comfy and cosy – perfect for cold winter days!

These would make a great gift knit for a kid or teen (or, well… anyone you may know of, as long as they like cats)!

Skill level

This pattern is ideally intended for knitters who already have a sock project and a colourwork project under their belt!

Materials

  • Tape measure
  • Circular knitting needle (either 2mm for A sizes or 2.5mm and 3mm for B sizes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Two contrasting sock yarns in a wool-nylon blend with a weight of 400m/100g:
    • for sizes 1A, 1B, 2A, allow approx 70 grams of MC and 30 grams of CC
    • for sizes 2B, 3A, 3B allow approx 85 grams of MC and 40 grams of CC

The figures above are conservative estimations – exact yarn usage is dependent on each knitter’s personal gauge and measurements (e.g. foot length, sock length preference).

Sizing

Size options, ordered by finished (actual) circumference:

  • 1A: 13.5cm (5 ⅓ in)

  • 2B: 20cm (7⅞in)
  • 3A: 22.5cm (8⅞in)

Notes on the samples

The pink/red sample is a size 2A and modelled on a foot measuring approx 24.5cm (9.65in) in length and 22.5cm (8.86in) in circumference.

It used approx 75 grams (63gr MC 12gr CC) total of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply (colourways 281 Lisianthus and 510 Cayenne Pepper)

The blue/purple sample is a size 2B and also modelled on a foot measuring approx 24.5cm (9.65in) in length and 22.5cm (8.86in) in circumference.

Blue/purple sample yarns:

  • West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply Solids in colourways 731 Violet and 157 Juniper
  • Regia 4-fädig colourway 6840
  • Paintbox Yarns Socks colourway Pixel bonbons

IMPORTANT TO NOTE the pattern doesn’t explain how to work a two tone sock as demonstrated in the blue/purple sample – this sample simply showcases a fun scrappy variation on the original design.
