Cumulus
I love cowls. I also love White Gum Wool, and have been intrigued by their bouclé yarn for quite some time. This deliciously soft and surprisingly light yarn has a character all of its own, and shines in a simple stitch pattern. I am instantly reminded of the characteristics of cumulus clouds when working with this bouclé, and I wanted to reflect that in this pattern. Syncopated ribbing keeps the overall fabric simple, yet stretchy and textured, while sporadically placed bobbles add a fun, cloud-like detail.
This cowl is a single-loop, relaxed fit piece of knitwear. The finished size of your piece will vary slightly based on your personal gauge and your yarn choice. I recommend choosing a yarn, if not using White Gum Wool Bouclé, that is light, lofty, and very closely matches the gauge of this yarn. I don’t recommend using cellulose fibres for this pattern.
One size only. This cowl will use almost all of one 100g ball of White Gum Wool Bouclé, if you meet gauge. Please be aware that while gauge isn’t super important, it will affect the finished size of your cowl, as well as how much yarn you need to complete it. If you tend towards loose tension, err on the side of caution and get two balls of yarn.
Gauge: 14 sts x 18 rows over 10cm in 1x1 rib on 7mm needles
