Cunegonde
The code “NORICHAN” is provided to assist with financial accessibility. This code will reduce the cost of the pattern to $3.60.
Cunegonde is the paramour of Candide. She is a beautiful, but very simple minded lady. With that in mind, I now introduce my second installment to my Candide collection. This cowl makes a great introduction to lace knitting or a fun mindless project for those experienced with lace! It is a simple knit, but creates a pretty end product.
Cunegonde comes in two basic sizes, and is written for both DK and Worsted weight yarns.
Materials
Yarn
160 (320)yds/146 (293)m of Knitted Wit Sport (100% SW Merino; 325yds/297m/4oz) in French Kiss colorway (sample is worked in size Large)
OR
155 (310)yds/142 (183)m of Knitted Wit Worsted (100% SW Merino; 200yds/183m/4oz) in Raspberry Milkshake colorway (sample is worked in size Small)
NOTE: the original yarns (orange, wine, and green) are made with the below yarns which have now been discontinued. The new cowls are in the above yarns worked in bright pink and lilac.
Willamette Valley Wool Company PendragynDK (100% SW merino, approx 330yds/4oz)
The large size uses the entire skein, so if your gauge varies greatly from mine, you may want to cut the height by 1 repeat.
Pictured: Libation (purple-y burgundy) in size Small and Fire and Spice (orange) in size Large. The small size leaves enough yarn to make most sizes of the coordinating Maggie.
or
Willamette Valley Wool Company Wyvern (100% SW merino, approx 470yds/250g)
The large size leaves enough yarn to make a small cowl or most sizes of a matching Maggie!
Pictured: Evergreen (green) in size Large.
Needles
Sport: US5 3.75mm in 24” (32”) circular
Worsted: US8 8mm in 24” (40”) circular
or size to obtain gauge.
