Cup Cake Beanie
To match the ‘Cupcake Scarf’, I’ve designed two different hats - one a simpler beanie - that is meant to be a whole ‘cupcake ; and one a lacy, filigree beret / slouchy that ‘copies’ the cupcake pattern.
The pattern comes in three sizes :
S : 18” x 6” , (M : 19” x 6 ½” & L : 20” x 7”)
This pattern too uses simple basic stitches ; written in U.S terminology, and comes photos for explanation.
This pattern has been tested using :
a) DK ply acrylic, Vardhaman Millenium ; 50 gms / 165 yds ; 4.5 (US 7) mm crochet hook ;
b) DK ply acrylic, Vardhaman Millenium ; 50 gms / 165 yds ; G crochet hook :
Comments : Instructions very clear, photos very helpful, abbreviations very well explained ; took about 1-2 hrs ; fun & quick project
Skill level by tester : Advanced beginner (due to fpdc / fsc)
c) Caron Simply Soft , not much, with a J crochet hook ;
Comments : Took just a few hours ; clear instructions ; the pattern was so easy to follow and very quick to work up ;
Gauge : 2 fpdc high x 4 sts across for 1”.
Skill level by tester : Not difficult at all, very easy and fun
d) Lion Brand Cotton-Ease ; 93 gms / 193 yds ; 5.5mm (US I) crochet hook ;
Gauge : 6.5 fpdc = 2”
Comments : instructions were clear enough that I didn’t need to check the photos; techniques/abbreviations were explained well ; took I’d say 3.5 hours. This was cute, quick, and fun.
Skill level by tester : advanced beginner, because of fpdc
e)Premier Angel self shading yarn DK wt - 162 yds - g hook - Size :17.5” x 6.5”.
Comments :I actually love this one a lot since I hope to be able to use in my baby gift stash.
f) Caron Simply Soft - 211 yds - H hook ; Size : 19” x 7” - 3 hours to do with potty breaks :-)
