Curious Climber
Smooth cliff top surfaces contrast with craggy rock faces texturally in Curious Climber. Garter and Stockinette interplay with short row swings in a fun and relaxing way to create a fully reversible shawl. Designed as an introduction to the swing shawl concept and with a working title of “Basic Swing,” relax as you create this cozy comfortable shawl. The easy (not beginner) level design provides a chance to practice short row swings with familiar stitches on a familiar shape, with a few little surprises to level up your I-cords.
The tech edited and test knit pattern is fully written with several how-to videos and a schematic.

Special Notes:
- Block It: blocking is important for Curious Climber in order to smooth out the “crescent
moustache”.
- Customize It: looking for a smaller or larger shawl? For a smaller shawl, work fewer
sections. For a larger shawl, after Section 16 continue to work as established until desired size and then work Bind Off. Each section adds 4.5”/ 11.5cm to the wingspan and 1”/ 2.5cm to the depth. Larger shawls will require more yarn.
- Color It: have fun with color! The sample is shown in a single color, but you can easily make this a colorful design. If using 2 colors, pick one for the Stockinette Sections and the other for the Garter Sections. If looking for multiple colors, use a different color for each section.
