This is the fourth doll in the “Ellie & Friends” series - our curly haired Naomi Doll! Naomi was inspired by my very first gifted crochet doll. I received this super cute little doll from a Ukrainian friend when I was about 5yrs old. Sadly.. in a fit of generosity, I gave this doll to another friend when she came over to play. Oh she was so sweet, with her black curly hair! So I simply HAD to make my own. I think this curly hair design is perfect for any afro doll makers, but it would also look adorable in firey red!

As mentioned, she is part of a set of doll friends “Ellie & Friends”. I will put together an ebook for them soon.

But in the meantime you can enjoy making just Naomi as she is! I hope you like her as much as I do!

This crochet pattern was made using a 2mm hook, though the yarn is suitable for 3 and 4mm hooks too. So you should be able to make it with these hooks and it should result in a slightly bigger doll. My stitches tend to be on the small side.

I used 6mm safety eyes. Again, if you use bigger hooks you may end up with a bigger doll and would maybe want bigger eyes too!

Different yarns can be used to make this doll. We love DK 100% cotton ones though.

I used four skein colors - a skin tone of choice, a hair color and three colors for the dress and hairband.

Print this crochet pattern “2 papes per print page” and both sides to save on paper and printing costs.
