The updated version requires having

18 sc (US)/ dc (UK) and 19 rows in 10x10 cm 4x4 in
the rest is calculated for you!

the updated version gives precise instructions for 9 child sizes:
0-6 months / 6-12 months / 12-18 months / 2 years / 3 years / 4 years / 5-6 years / 7-8 years / 9-10 years

you will need:
Cotton Merino DROPS (100 m /50 g 109 yds/1.75 oz) - 4 (5, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10) balls or any DK yarn and matching hook if you obtain gauge.
