This pattern contains detailed instructions and photographs that show you how to create fabric and knitted piping. You can even add piping to other cushion cover patterns so long as the cushion cover has separate front and back sides.

Description
This pattern will show you how to make:

• A knitted cushion cover with a zip fastening;
• A knitted cushion cover with a zip fastening and knitted piping; and
• A half-knit half-fabric cushion cover with a zip fastening and fabric piping.

The pattern contains detailed step-by-step instructions with clear photographs that show you how to:

• Create your own fabric piping from scratch;
• Create knitted piping that has no visible beginning or end; and
• Attach the piping onto your cushion cover.

Also included are instructions for installing a zip, and shortening a zip if it’s too long for the cushion cover.

You’ll need to use a sewing machine to complete these cushion covers.

Sizing
The cushion covers are designed for a 40 x 40 cm (16 x 16 in) cushion inner. However, some cushion inners are quite flat, while others are very plump. So it’s important to measure across the fullest part of your cushion inner both horizontally and vertically, and to choose the size that is closest to the measurements you’ve taken.

Amount of Yarn Required

• Knitted cushion cover with a zip fastening, size 40 x 40 cm (16 x 16 in): 425 m / 465 yds

• Knitted cushion cover with a zip fastening, size 43 x 43 cm (17 x 17 in): 475 m / 520 yds

• Knitted cushion cover with a zip fastening, size 46 x 46 cm (18 x 18 in): 550 m / 605 yds

• Knitted cushion cover with a zip fastening and knitted piping: same amount of yarn listed above, plus one 50g ball of DK / 8ply yarn to make the casing around the piping cord

• Half-knit half-fabric cushion cover with a zip fastening and fabric piping, size 40 x 40 cm (16 x 16 in): 250 m / 275 yds + 70 m / 80 yds contrast yarn for the vertical stripe design

• Half-knit half-fabric cushion cover with a zip fastening and fabric piping, size 43 x 43 cm (17 x 17 in): 275 m / 305 yds + 75 m / 85 yds contrast yarn for the vertical stripe design

• Half-knit half-fabric cushion cover with a zip fastening and fabric piping, size 46 x 46 cm (18 x 18 in): 300 m / 330 yds + 80 m / 90 yds contrast yarn for the vertical stripe design
