Cushion Foot Socks
These socks come out like the most luxurious and expensive boot socks and are ideal for really cold weather and outdoor work. 2 yarns are needed: One of 100% wool that will felt and one of a similar weight that will not. The non-felting yarn may be acrylic, Superwash “* wool or a blend. For bulkies pick 2 worsted weight yarns. For standard and mid-gauge select 2 that will knit with a tight fabric at about 8 stitches and 12 rows per inch or a drapier fabric at 7 stitches and 10 rows per inch. Gauge is not as critical for these socks as for most because the felting will help. The sample is knitted with Patons Classic Wool for the feltable yarn and Universal Rosetti Always Surprise for the un-feltable yarn. Knit the ribbing quite tightly. Knit the foot at a stitch size that will produce a normal sweater-like fabric.
Sizes: ladies 5-14, men 3-12 in US shoe sizing.
