Cute Cattle
Since I have a real liking for nature’s most peculiar, weird, mysterious or misunderstood underdogs I decided to design some of them for anyone who wants to get to know these natural weirdo’s a little better!
Cattle are large mammals in the Bovidae family, with over 800 different cattle breeds. The cattle in this pattern is a Texas Longhorn, an American cow characterized by its long horns, which can span over 2.5 meters! Cows are very social animals, that live in small herds and they form close friendships with other animals in their herd. So maybe, give your cow a happy herd and knit moooo-ltiple cattle in existence!
This 16 cm longhorn was knitted on short 2.25 mm double pointed needles (UK 13, US 1) in Rowan Felted Tweed (160) gilt (which creates a slightly rugged look). A longhorn’s coat can be almost any color or a mix of colors, so choose any yarn you like. By embroidering patches on the body, each cattle becomes a unique creation!
This project is an easy to medium knit, with some i-cord and short row knitting and knitting flat and in the round.
Have a wonder-bull knit! Viv
