This pattern is easy, but is not meant to teach a brand-new beginner how to crochet. You should know how to read a pattern and have knowledge of a few basic crochet stitches in order to make these adorable snails with Halloween-themed shells.

You will make the body separately and then a shell of your choosing to sew on: a pumpkin, candy corn, candy apple, eyeball, piece of wrapped candy, tombstone or skull. Use your favorite colors to customize your snail.

This pattern uses US terminology and basic crochet supplies: yarn, hook, stuffing, a needle for sewing, and safety eyes. As safety eyes aren’t safe for very young children, you could use felt, buttons, or embroider the eyes instead.
