Cute Pig Hat
Supplies:
- Crochet Hook (Size G-6, 4.25mm)
- 1 skein light pink Color A
- 1 skein white Color B
- 1 skein black Color C (all yarns are worsted weight, I used Redheart. You can use any 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn of your choice)
- Yarn Needle
- A small amount of poly-fil or other stuffing of choice (for the nose)
- Stitch Markers
Gauge
You should always make a gauge swatch before you begin! Save yourself headaches!
16 sts = 4”; 5 sc rounds = 1”.
Use any size hook that you need to achieve the desired gauge.
Abbreviations
Chain (ch)
Double Crochet (dc)
Repeat (rep)
Single Crochet (sc)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Stitch (st)
Yarn Over (yo)
Special stitches to know:
- Sc2tog - draw up a loop in next st twice, yo and
draw through all 3 loops on hook.
- Sc3tog - draw up a loop in next st three times, yo
and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
- HDC around the post - instead of going through
the top of the stitch as usual, work around the post
of the stitch, inserting hook from the front.
Note
The thing that made me the most nervous about this pattern was trying to put the ears and
eyes on at the exact same place on each side. Thankfully, by counting rows and stitches, and placing
markers, it should be pretty straightforward to get them on right! You can always remove one, yarn is
very forgiving, and place it in a better spot, but odds are very good that you will not have to do this!
