Cutie Pie Pouch was designed during a trip I took to the French Atlantic coast. We were staying with an adorable family, and our host’s teenage daughter was really helpful, showing us the nicest surfing spots ! I wanted to make her a little something. But I didn’t have much time, and I only brought the really small (10g) balls of yarn from my Scheepjes Catona colorpack. That’s how the Cutie Pie Pouch was created !

Cutie Pie Pouch is a small drawstring bag, with a flap and a little puff flower acting as a button. You can attach it to a keychain, or use it just as it is. It’s perfect for spare change, or small objects. It would also be handy on vacation, when you don’t want to take your wallet with you to the beach. Or, if you are like me – always loosing my keys – attaching it to your keys will make them easier to find !

This easy to follow pattern (4pages) contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms. Special stitches are explained at the beginning of the pattern. I also included pictures to illustrate the few trickier parts. The pattern is written in 3 parts : the pouch, the flap, and the button ; all contained in a single pdf file. Instructions for making a twisted cord, attaching your pouch to a keychain, and sewing on the button are included in the pattern.

CROCHET LEVEL

Intermediate (post stitches and star stitch are used). However, with pictures and links to video tutorials, this project is also suitable for a beginner.

SIZE

The size of the finished pouch will depend on the yarn and hook you use. My pouch was made with Sport Weight yarn (size 2), and is approximately 5cm (2’’) in diameter. Instructions for adapting the pattern to thicker yarn are included in the pattern.

MATERIALS

• Leftovers of yarn in 3 colors. I used small (bonbon) balls of 100% cotton yarn “Catona” by Scheepjes (10g/0.35 oz., 25m/27 yds.)

• Crochet hook 3 mm (C) or the size to obtain an acceptable gauge

• Scissors and Tapestry needle to weave the ends.
