I love words that move from one language into another and make a home for themselves. Words that cannot be translated or replaced. Words that speakers of native languages, like Irish or Welsh, take with them wherever they go. Cwtch is one of the loveliest words I have found and I am adopting it for this pattern because all blankets should make you want to ‘come for a cwtch’.

This pattern is knit as individual squares, starting with a iCord (Belly Button) cast on. 12 squares are made to make the small and 24 to make the large size. It makes the maximum use of the yarn and requires the full 100g ball to make 3 squares. The squares are then blocked and whipstitched together using a contrasting colour.

There is a tutorial for the Cast on on The Loveliest Yarn Company YouTube page.

The pattern is shown in West Yorkshire Spinners Essentials DK limited edition colours (Summer 2017) Cornflower (A), Light Pink (B), Rose (C) & Slate (D).
