Cyare
by Sarah Lauber
I really love Star Wars. My other nerdy love is fictional languages. One thing that stood out to me about Mandalorians is that despite the warlike traditions of the culture, there’s a crucial element of love and family bonds expressed in the language. Cyare, pronounced “shah-ray” means beloved in Mando’a, the Mandalorian language.
The Cyare shawl is worked flat, increasing on one side to form an asymmetrical triangle with a simple diamond lace motif and squishy garter stitch.
Gauge: 16 stitches in 4 inches in garter stitch
Yardage: 275(600) yards of worsted-weight yarn
