Cycle Trail Scarf
The Maniototo region of Central Otago, New Zealand is a stunning part of the world. It’s all mountains and arid valleys – icy and freezing in the winter months and dusty and scorching in the summer. A perfect place to grow sheep and an excellent setting for an ex railway line converted to a cycle trail. This cozy cabled scarf is the perfect accessory on those trails in the chilly months. And such fun to knit!
It features two cables that run up through the middle of the scarf with a little vertical ribbing on the edges. It’s a straight forward pattern repeat and I’ve been told that even newbies to cables can manage it nicely. There are good instructions, including a chart and a link to a tutorial on knitting cables.
I recommend a good firm block. Don’t be afraid to stretch it out. And use lots of pins!
You can wear it tucked into itself or wrapped around and fastened with a brooch or a shawl pin.
