the leek and the daffodil are both symbols of Wales (Cymru) and are combined here for St David’s Day (national day of Wales) 1st March
the leek is made first, knitted from the bottom up on 4 needles, with a colour change for the stem.
leaves are added afterwards
the stem is continued and a funnel and leaves added separately.
roots are sewn on with a needle
