This cardigan is a feast of different details and techniques and calls for some knitting experience. Provisional cast-on, short rows, stranded knitting with twisted stitches, lace pattern, decorative dipped stitches of 2 kinds made with contrasting colour - or in other words, a highly entertaining knitting experience and really not as complicated as it looks or sounds.
Wearing the Dagný cardigan is also a treat, especially if you like having people stop you to ask if they can take a picture and ask you how it’s made…

Dagný is originally inspired by a favourite restaurant of mine that‘s sadly no longer open. The yoke pattern echoes the unique handmade decorations on the walls and tables of the location which were stenciled on with paint-soaked crochet doilies in various sizes. The body and sleeves are loaded with intricate details in both colour and texture as a homage to the gorgeously decorated cakes that the restaurant owner, Dagný, conjured up as if by magic. The pattern is named after her.

Knit in one piece from the top down with a steek at the front. Short row shaping at the back of the neck to provide a better fit. Separated into body and sleeves after the yoke. The yoke increases are integrated into the pattern shown in a diagram. Sleeves and body knit straight with no decreases except at the sleeve ribbings.
