Daina
Pattern No. 1 in the Latvia 100 Collection, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Latvia’s independence.
Dainas are Latvian folksongs, many of them created well over a thousand years ago. Part of the Latvian oral tradition, they contain much that constitutes Latvian culture, reflecting daily existence as well as celebrations and life’s passages.
Many of the dainas are about life on the land. The Daina vest celebrates the beauty and richness of the Latvian countryside. Worked in the colours of nature, it incorporates in lace stitches some of the country’s most ancient motifs.
Choose your own combination of three colourways to create your own folk song.
