Crochet a set of reusable cotton scrubbies for your kitchen or bath. These are large enough to be luxurious for skincare routines, but still small enough to work for a variety of purposes in your kitchen.

This crochet pattern is available for FREE on my website, (visit pattern website link above), or you can download it here on Ravelry as a print-optimized, ad-free PDF.

Difficulty:
Easy
Techniques used: puff stitches, crochet in the back bar, picot single crochet, reverse single crochet (crab stitch), invisible join.

rsc = Reverse single crochet (crab stitch)

Additional Terms:

Picot single crochet (psc): Insert hook through top of stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop 3 times making a ch 3, yo, draw through final 2 loops on hook. Pull your ch-3 sp towards the front of your work instead of pushing it toward the back.
Back bar of sc: Look at the back of the stitch and locate the short bar that runs horizontal. Work all stitches for the round into this bar. This is a different location than the back loop!
BLO = back loop only
sp/sps = space/spaces
st/sts = stitch/stitches
prev = previous
sk = skip

Gauge:
Gauge is not particularly important for this project.

Measurements:
Round Scrubby: 3 3/4” across
Flower Scrubby: 4 3/4” across

Additional Notes:
Ch-1 at beginning of round does not count as a stitch.
Use tight tension for this project so that your scrubby will be more sturdy.
Pull your joins tight to minimize the seam.
This pattern includes a short picture tutorial on how to work the invisible join at the end of the round scrubby. This technique works on any project worked in the round using sc, hdc, dc, and tr stitches, to name a few.
Always rinse your scrubbies out well and let them fully dry between uses to prevent mildew or musty smells. An afternoon soak in a mixture of Borax and water can get the “day old dishrag” smell out, but if odors still persist after that toss them out and crochet another set.
