This generously proportioned blanket (65” x 42”) uses two separated crochet techniques to create a charming flower design that runs uninterrupted from top to bottom. The edges of the blanket give way to mosaic “waffles”. A pattern of offset squares occupies a generous proportion of the blanket.

The pattern calls for 2 shades of dk/light worsted acrylic yarn; an estimated 2100 yards of color A and 1500 yard of color B. The blanket in the pattern photos were constructed using Scheepjes Color Crafter in Meppel (COLOR A) and Drachten (COLOR B). However, U.S. residents may find Stylecraft Special DK in Fuschia Purple and Plum more easily obtained. Please remember that you can opt for any brand in any shade, so long as it meets pattern specs.

Both the tapestry and mosaic overlay are worked from start to finish on the front side, so that you never turn your work. To transition from mosaic overlay to front-side tapestry, you simply fasten off, change to the 4mm hook, attach your yarn to the first ST of the new row, and revert back to mosaic overlay in the same manner.

The blanket is constructed along the length, so that the fringe falls top and bottom of the blanket.

The mosaic overlay portions of the pattern call for a number of repeats, allowing the experienced crafter to increase the width of the blanket by increasing the repeats.

Front-side tapestry is a beautiful effect that is smooth on the top side and speckled on the back side. For the best effect, choose colors that are closely related. For example: Pinks and Purples, Oranges and Reds, Yellows and Oranges, Blues and Teals, Greens and Teals … Extreme contrasts are not advised.
