My favourite flower is the common-or-garden daisy - or anything that resembles a daisy! - and I’ve wanted to design a hat featuring them for a while now.

I decided to go for big blousy daisies, with an interlocking pattern, with two sizes available.
The ribbing and the length are the same for both sizes but the larger size has some extra stitches in the main body.
There are some long floats, so I thought it might be an idea to offer a slightly larger size to compensate for any issues with uneven tension etc.

Skill Level
Confident with colourwork due to long floats - but a good challenge piece too!

Sizes
Regular - to fit approx 22”, length 8.5”
Large - to fit approx 23.5”, length 8.5”

Materials
I’ve used a soft rainbow of yarn from my stash consisting of Shetland Spindrift and Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper weight for the background colours, and Erika Knight Wool Local for the contrast - although Jamieson Supreme Jumper weight would also work well for the contrast.

With these brands & at my tension, for the larger size I used approx 3.5g of each of the background colours (2.5g each or less on the crown) and less than 20g of contrast yarn.

I also tried a simple black and white version using Drops Nord as it is so super soft. The simple two-tone gives a striking effect.

Please do share pics of your version with the hashtag #daisyhat - I’d Love to see them!!

Happy Knitting!!
