Dallisey Cardigan
Lacy columns trim the collar band and cuffs of this lovely cardigan, and slightly gathered sleeves add an elegant touch. Worked with larger needles in fingering weight to create a light fabric with delicate drape, it would be perfect for any special occasion.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust - 36 (38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48)(50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60)“ based on twice finished back measurement.
Intended to be worn with 0-2” of ease.
Length - 22 (22½, 22½, 23, 23, 23½, 23½)(24, 24, 24¼, 24½, 25, 25)”.
YARN: 1245 (1325, 1380, 1470, 1520, 1590, 1655)(1760, 1800, 1850, 1940, 2015, 2045) yds fingering weight wool or wool blend.
Shown in Knit Picks “Capretta” (80% Superwash Fine Merino Wool, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 230yds/50gr) - 29788 Hollyberry. 6 (6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8)(8, 8, 9, 9, 9, 9) balls.
NEEDLES: U.S. size 6 (4mm) circular or straight needles.
Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge.
OTHER: Stitch holders, stitch markers, extra needle in same size for 3-needle bind off, tapestry needle.
GAUGE: 22 sts/32 rows = 4” in stockinette, blocked.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate. Techniques include simple lace, German short rows, 3-needle bind off, m1 increases, decreases.
CONSTRUCTION: Back and fronts are knit separately from the bottom up. Shoulders are shaped with short rows and joined with 3-needle bind off. Collar band is knit along with the fronts and decreases are worked for side and collar shaping. Collar band is extended and joined at back neck. Set in sleeves are knit flat from the bottom up, with increases at the cuff to create gathers. Sleeves are sewn into the armholes and sides and underarms are seamed.
