Damask Mitts
I was asked to create a pair of fingerless mittens for a close friend’s niece. The only request was ‘cute’ and ‘purple’. From the beginning, I had the image of something floral in my head, but no published patterns really stood out to me. So, after looking at a few colorwork designs, I decided that I just needed to make up my own! While I think this pattern is fairly easy for colorwork, it helps if you know how to carry floats.
Size: Women’s M. Size can be adjusted slightly with gauge.
Materials:
Techniques Used: Stranded colorwork, 1x1 ribbing, Knitting in the Round, Charts
Experience Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate. The chart isn’t terribly long so there aren’t too many rows to keep track of. However, the ability to follow colorwork charts and carry over short floats will be quite helpful.
Yarn:
Main Color: 1 skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Sport (125m/137 yds) shown in ‘Haze Heather’
Contrasting Color: 1 skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Sport (125m/137 yds) shown in ‘Blackberry’’
Other Materials:
US 5 DPNs or 32” circular needles if using Magic Loop, or size to match gauge.
Stitch Markers
Small stitch holder or scrap yarn
Row counter (helpful)
Gauge - 7sts = 1”
Size: Women Medium
A special thank you to my test knitters!
This was given out as a free promoional leafket by Malabrigo yarn but is no longer in print.
