Cheerful Adélie penguins, named after the wife of Antarctic explorer Dumont D’Urville, dance in a circle around the brim of this colorful hat. Adélie penguins are known for their endearing antics, best captured in animated films such as ‘Madagascar’ and ‘Happy Feet.’

This pattern is worked from the brim to the top on a circular needle, changing to DPNs when the stitches get too tight on the circular needle. The edge of the brim is a section of self-curling stockinette. There are two braids around the band, with full instructions included in the pattern. On the band is a stranded section of penguins and the top is another stranded chart. It is finished with a colorful tassel.
