Dancing of the Autumn Leaves
This is a triangular lace shawl knitted from the top down.
This pattern is perfect if you’re just starting to knit, or are looking for an easy project.
This shawl isn’t an exact replica, but inspired by the round doily pattern from the old Polish magazine, “Igla I Nitka” (1996 – 3/4, model 14).
Skill level: Beginner, Intermediate
Pattern includes charts and all necessary instructions; there are no row-by-row written instructions.
Total rows: 148
Size: Adjustable
The shawl size can be easily enlarged by working some extra repeats.
Both lace weight and fingering natural fiber yarns will be perfect for this project.
Yarn used: Alize Kid Royal (62% mohair, 38% polyamide; 250 m 273 yds / 25 grams) and Natural Fantasy ExtraKid (70% mohair, 30% silk; 2000 m 2187 yds / 100 g). These two strands were holding together which amounted to a total of 500 m 547 yds per 100 g.
The sample required about 700 m / 766 yds (140 g) of yarn.
Finished measurements: 160 cm (63”) along the wingspan and 80 cm (31½“) depth; measured after blocking.
Finished size depends on yarn choice, needle size and your individual manner of knitting.
In this particular case, the gauge is not important but will affect the finishhed shawl size and yardage requirements.
Tools: Size 3 mm (US 2 ½) circular needles; size 2.00 mm crochet hook for binding off; stitch markers.
