Dancing Peacock
This crescent shaped shawl is worked in one piece from the top down. The body is shaped using short rows. The lace edging is then worked last. Beads are optional and may be omitted. The shawl is finished with a crochet bindoff which can also be done with knitting needles (instructions included). Only charts are provided for the lace portion of the shawl.
The Japanese name for Acer Japonicum ‘Aconitifolium’ is ‘Maiku jaku’ which means ‘dancing peacock’ The fall colour is reliable but varies from bright to deep red, and is always spectacular. However, it is the green summer colour that I love the best. The shape of the leaves inspired this shawl.
