Given my love for the sea, I have designed another marine-themed pattern, this time picturing seahorses. They are intelligent and quite unique creatures: they are one of the few monogamous species and it’s the male that carries the babies and gives birth to them. Also, the seahorse symbolises Poseidon, the God of the Sea, representing strength and power, so it has long been considered a good luck charm.

Dancing Seahorses is worked seamlessly from the top down. First some short-rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the round- yoke is worked top down to sleeve separation. Some last short-rows are worked to finish the yoke shaping right before
sleeve stitches are placed on hold, then the body is worked in rounds down to the hem. Sleeves are worked top down to the cuffs last.

US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” (40 cm) and 32” (80 cm) circular needle and DPNs (or longer circular needle for magic loop) for neck, body and sleeve ribbing.
US 7 (4,5 mm) 24” (60 cm) and 32” (80 cm) circular needle and DPNs (or longer circular needle for magic loop) for body and sleeves.

GAUGE
20 sts x 24 rows = 4” (10 cm) square in Stockinette stitch on larger needle after blocking.
