This is a pattern to crochet a stylised dandelion seed head mandela. You can mount it on a metal hoop as I have or block it as a circular doily.

After payment, you will have access to two downloadable PDF documents. One is written in US terminology and the other in UK.

You do not need to be able to read charts to use this pattern, each round is fully written out in English. Three charts are also provided for chart readers.

Helpful hints are included. Several full colour tutorial photographs guide you through any tricky bits.

You will need prior knowledge of only basic crochet stitches.

I am classing this as an advanced beginner / intermediate pattern. I do not wish to discourage beginners with some experience from buying the pattern. I am happy to provide e-mail pattern support for anyone needing assistance. It just wouldn’t necessarily be the first pattern I would recommend to a novice.

The mandela is stretched to fit a 17 ¾ in / 45 cm hoop.

The pattern uses a single 50g (280m) ball/skein of 2 ply mercerised cotton yarn. I used Scheepjes Sugar Rush. You could substitute Scheepjes Sweet Treat, 2 x 25g will be required in that case or any 2 ply yarn.

A typical hook to use is 1.5mm (US steel hook size 7). You will also need a darning needle to weave in your ends (only two!) and scissors to cut your yarn at the end.

All patterns are for the purchaser’s use only and are subject to copyright (including my photographs). This pattern should not be reproduced or distributed either in hard copy or electronic forms without my specific permission. You may sell items made by hand with this pattern.
